Assistant Professor, University of Virginia

Joe researches political economy and conflict, focusing primarily on strategic interactions that lead to international war. His work has covered topics in bargaining theory, diplomacy, repeated games, social and economic networks, and redistributive politics.Before Stanford, Joe received his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 2024. At Princeton, he also earned his Master of Arts in 2020 and was a fellow in the Program for Quantitative and Analytical Political Science. Before graduate school, Joe received a Bachelor of Science from Marist College, Poughkeepsie, New York in 2014 and worked as an analyst for credit rating agency DBRS.
